Hitachi in partnership with NDTV recently organized "Social Innovations for Future- Solutions for India" at The Oberoi, New Delhi on 21st November, 2014. The event was to provide solutions to number of infrastructural issues, and how they can be addressed by using "Social Innovations for Future- Solutions for India" as a platform.

Since masses of people are immigrating to cities every day, it is putting a lot of pressure on the infrastructure currently existing in the cities. Over the years, Hitachi with its cutting edge technologies has been contributing towards the development of societies across the world and providing solutions to combat the issues pertaining to rapid urbanization. So, this event covered how Hitachi as a private player can further support in addressing these challenges utilizing its technologies and key business interest areas by bringing thought leaders on a common platform through panel discussions, focused seminars and exhibits addressing challenges of rapid urbanisation. It delved into the prevailing issues in the areas of Healthcare and Urban Transportation and discussed the solutions that Hitachi as a private player has to offer. Together with the greatest minds in the country in these areas, this was a platform where some of the revolutionary technologies like Proton-beam therapy; Optical Topography etc. was discussed at length as well as their relevance in the Indian society.

As the event was attended by many esteemed guests, including government officials, policy makers, industry leaders and academia, we could utilize this platform to discuss the relevant issues towards Social Innovations in India with all participants as well as the potential answers.

  • The panel discussion on Social Innovation focused on to assess how businesses can be geared towards social change, yet staying relevant in the new economy. It was emphasized how social innovation impact business strategy and if companies can profit from social change while facilitating a culture to transform social responsibility into social innovation & revolutionize the way businesses are perceived.

  • This session explored the various transport areas like Metro, Monorail, LRT, BRT etc. serving different passenger carrying demands and matching with unique requirements of each corridor along with identifying the gaps in the existing public and social services. The focus was on building of a network of social innovators & engaging policy makers in shaping development.

  • The objective of the session on Financing of Railway Projects was to delve deeper into the benefits of alternative financing schemes and FDI for Indian Railway. Various PPP Opportunities and new Opportunities, E.g. Dedicated Freight Corridors were also examined.

  • This panel discussion was an effort towards driving innovation through technology to reshape the future of healthcare delivery and making it universal as well as fostering an ecosystem of growth and innovation along with health innovators and entrepreneurs. The role of allied sectors in pushing the goal of universal care forward in infrastructure, technology, banking and rural development sector was also discussed.

  • The panel discussion on Oncology, Breast Cancer and Imaging looked into India's socio-economic cultural diversity preventing early detection and cure of breast cancer. Latest diagnostic imaging technologies to strengthen patient confidence towards fast & accurate results were also explored during this session.

    After the phenomenal success of the Delhi event; Hitachi and NDTV are partnering yet again for Social Innovations for Future- Solutions for India to be held in Mumbai on February 16th, 2015. The focus of this event will be on the innovations in the field of Information Technology and Infrastructure.
