The Research & Development centre of Hitachi India, was established in Bengaluru in 2011, after establishment of the other Hitachi’s R&D centres in Japan, North America, Europe, China, and Singapore. Our vision is to develop technologies focused on two key areas – Information Technology and Social Infrastructure. In India, we are focusing on these two areas in alignment with Indian Government’s well-known – “Digital India” and “Make in India” initiatives.
When it comes to IT, there are two wheels on both ends of the shaft; one is IT Platform and the other is IT Solution. While IT Platform includes software engineering, functional safety and cyber security, IT Solution includes payment services and intelligent transportation systems.
For Social Infrastructure, our focus is to develop and enhance the basics of better living - water systems, power systems, power electronics and vehicles. With our research initiatives, we envision to solve the key challenges in these areas, that is, complexity and uncertainty in structures and phenomena. To overcome these challenges, we rely upon the technology of computer-based control and analysis supported by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT).
How do we excel in a variety of technologies? The secret is the support of the R&D group of Hitachi, Ltd. in Japan, and the strength endowed by thousands of professional researchers. For more than 100 years, they have been developing world’s leading technologies across the areas of energy, control, material, mechanics, systems, electronics, digital technologies and healthcare. Thanks to their technological platform shared with us, the R&D centre of Hitachi India is able to develop a wide spectrum of technologies - growing up as one of the leading R&D centres, and contributing to society through technology development.
