Hitachi Water Treatment System

Hitachi is the key contributor towards the acquisition and high-level utilization of water resources in the world. Hitachi Plant Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (HPT) aims to contribute towards the development of a better social infrastructure by providing reliable technologies and services with superior value. With over 80 years of expertise in the field of water treatment, HPT creates new water regeneration possibilities in the following areas:

  • Water Usage
  • Recycling Water
  • Monitoring Water
  • Protecting Marine
  • Ecosystems

Hitachi Plant Technologies core businesses are backed up by extensive Research and Development and Monozukuri (Manufacturing) Capabilities. Joint research with customers, academic institutes as well as R&D Division of Hitachi Group enables us to speed up the cycle of R&D to solutions. Monozukuri, on the other hand, gives shape to and materializes the results of R&D through the integration of excellent technological capabilities. We are well supported by a wealth of experience and achievements along with advanced equipment and superb skills of the engineering staff.

HPT provides two main water treatment technologies- Compact Membrane Bioreactor and Reverse Osmosis (RO) System.

Hitachi Compact Membrane Bioreactor uses biological treatment in membrane filtration technology to produce high-quality treated water. Water treated using the MBR water treatment system can be used for toilet flushing, irrigation, landscaping, concrete mixing & curing, as well as car wash.

Hitachi RO Systems are an apt solution for desalinating sea water, purifying brackish water and recycling wastewater (sewage). Hitachi RO systems offer work efficiency while being an economical mode of producing high quality freshwater from sea water.

Hitachi Water Solutions History

Hitachi's connection with water began with the production of water turbines and pumps for hydroelectric power stations in its earliest days. Hitachi Suido was established in 1941 to channel some of the company's industrial water for public water supply. After WWII, it also contributed to, among other things, electrical equipment and pumping stations for water supply and sewage, equipment for irrigation systems and river management.

As pollution issues worsened in the 1960s, Hitachi was one of the first to develop pollutant monitoring and analysis equipment and advanced industrial wastewater treatment systems. Overseas, Hitachi scored points with the production of equipment for water filtration plants and pumping stations to make full use of valuable water.

Similarly, Hitachi has participated in various action programs for the project "Team Water Japan" which was led by the government in 2009.

1910s

Ishioka Daiichi Power Plant in Ibaraki Prefecture is a hydroelectric power station built using reinforced concrete. It is Japan's first power generating facility.
1910's 10,000HP Water TurbineHitachi delivered three 10,000HP water turbines to the Iwamuro Power Station of Tone Electric Power (now TEPCO). The Toyo Keizai news magazine sung the praises of Hitachi: "At a tim when no Japanese company could even make a 1,000HP class water turbine, it's remarkable that Hitachi was able to complete a 10,000HP version."
The Tsukudajima Engineering Works, which became the Kameido Works when Hitachi was reorganized in 1918, manufactured items such as centrifugal pumps, hoisting equipment and cranes for the Hitachi mine.
Horizontal-axle-type Francis Water Turbine GeneratorLearning from the failure of the Natsuigawa Power Station, which was damaged in 1916, Hitachi made a horizontal-axle-type Francis water turbine generator (1,300kW) for the Nikko Daiichi Power Station run by Shimotsuke Denryoku.

With a rapid increase in population, sanitation situation in the city and suburbs of Kuala Lumpur had deteriorated. Hitachi offered advanced sewage treatment technology to transform existing oxidation ponds into modern sewage treatment facilities, allowing discharge of now cleaner treated water into rivers.
