Hitachi Social Innovation Forum

The Hitachi Social Innovation Forum was organized by Hitachi to display the technologies that help us to cope with the infrastructural challenges as a result of rapid urbanization in India today. The event was a conglomeration of Innovation Summit, Exhibition of innovative Hitachi technologies and Business Seminars on challenges that have arisen due to rapid urbanization and solutions to improve the present situation.

The Hitachi Social Innovation Forum 2013 NEW DELHI intended to help India overcome present and upcoming challenges due to rapid urbanization through Social Innovation.

Mr. Junzo Nakajima's message about Hitachi Social Innovation Forum 2013 NEW DELHI:

Mr. Junzo Nakajima, the Executive Vice President and Executive Officer, CEO for Asia Pacific, Hitachi Ltd., inaugurated the Hitachi Social Innovation Forum in New Delhi and delivered the welcome address. Mr. Nakajima shared how Hitachi aims to stand by India and together pursue the big challenge of building a sustainable society. He stated that the event has been organized to share with attendees the Hitachi's vision for India tomorrow.

About Innovation Summit

Hitachi organized the Innovation Summit jointly with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) as a part of the Hitachi Social Innovation Forum. "Innovation as a solution for rapid urbanization" was the theme for this mega summit. Top industry professionals and eminent government figures shared their concerns about the growing challenges that have emerged due to rapid urbanization and sparred on the possible solutions to that could improve the current situation.

Dr. Ashwani Kumar, special envoy to the Prime Minister of India delivered the inaugural address at the Innovation Summit. Also present at the event were Mr. S. Gopalakrishnan, Co-Founder & Executive Vice-Chairman Infosys and President of CII, and Mr. Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General of CII during the inaugural address. This was followed by sessions of panel discussions on Intelligent Water Systems, Renewable Energy, Smart Rapid Transport Systems and Improved Logistics debated upon by various speakers from the respective industries.

The first panel of the Summit was titled "Intelligent water systems & desalinization technologies for assured water supply" which focused on addressing the water challenges in India. Here the experts discussed the growing awareness about the topic in the industry and how reuse of water and zero liquid discharge can prove to be an effective way for industry to improve water usage.

Similarly, another panel titled "Keeping our cities moving: Driving mass rapid transport systems" discussed the challenges and opportunities of the Indian transport system. Dr. Sudhir Krishna, Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development, a panel member, talked about the need for policy reforms to address problems of urban transport sector. The panel also discussed the need for an effective urban transit network for accelerating ridership and facilitating urban development in India.

About Business Seminars

Business Seminars organized by select business groups within Hitachi in India highlighted the market scenario and the strategy citing benefits of each of the group companies' products along with solutions during each session. The Seminars concentrated on key areas like Transportation, Information Technology, Infrastructure apart from many others. They aimed to make the customers aware about the initiatives that are being taken by the group companies towards Social Innovation Business. They were directed at each of the Business Unit Seminars as a focused discourse on new areas of innovation, application and experience and related feedback followed by Q&A.

About Exhibition

The event marked the magnificent display of range of technologies and innovations that are one of the driving forces behind Hitachi in India. Hitachi's exhibition on innovative technologies during the Hitachi Social Innovation Forum 2013 NEW DELHI witnessed great success with over 27 group companies showcasing their area of technological expertise and exhibiting their future ready products.

The innovative products and technologies demonstrated during the exhibition effectively covered sectors including water, energy, transportation, healthcare industry and IT.
